An Open Letter To My Older Brother

Dear Big Brother,

First things first, I just want to say thank you. I never tell you this, but I am so grateful to have you in my life. Without you I do not know who I would be. We may not have always gotten along when we were little, actually we never really got along, but now that we are getting older, we have gotten so much closer. There is a lot I have to thank you for, and since I am better at writing than I am with speaking, here is an open letter to you.

Thank you for protecting me.

Whether it was from the monsters hiding in my closet and under my bed or the girl that used to make fun of me, you were always there helping me. When I was little and thought that a spider was going to kill me, you killed it. And while I still freak out over spiders, even though I know they won't kill me, you still kill it, thank you so much for that.

Thank you for being good with electronics.

Lets be real here, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to any type of technology. If it wasn't for you, I probably would have made at least 3 computers, 2 game systems, 4 phones and a TV or two explode. Whether it was just flipping a switch, plugging in a wire, or getting rid of a virus for me, you have saved the lives of so many electronics. I have say thank you for that, and my wallet says thank you for that.

Thank you for being the first born.

Because of you, I have been able to do so much more than I would have without you. You were a pretty good trial for mom and dad. You have also taught me so many loopholes through their rules and how to get away with so many more things. I'm sorry that you had to learn all those things by yourself, but hey, they did come in pretty handy for me.

Thank you for letting me play video games with you.

You never let me be player one, and you never let me win at Super Mario Kart, but some of my favorite memories with you are sitting together, racing as Yoshi and Princess Peach and me forgetting that I was always on the bottom half of the screen. You may not have ever let me beat you, but you did teach me ways to absolutely destroy everyone else on our little Nintendo 64.

Thank you for molding me into a stronger person.

Whether it be physically, mentally or emotionally, you have made me into a much stronger person. You beat me up when I stole your stuff when we were little and kind of taught me how to fight back other than just little kicks. You told me when I just needed to suck it up and get over things, but you also taught me that sometimes its okay to break down and cry. You were there for me through some of the hardest times I have been through, and I wouldn't have wanted anyone else by my side.

Overall, I just want to thank you for everything that you have done for me. I know I was the annoying little sister while we were growing up, and I probably still am, but I know I wouldn't want to have been annoying anyone else for the past 18 years. And I don't think you'd want anybody else annoying you for most of your life either. We have never been able to take a nice picture together, and we may not ever be able to, but thank you for all that you do and all that you will continue to do for me.

Love,

Your Annoying Little Sister

On the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf is an icon. She's what every girl aspires to be. She's beautiful, confident, and can handle any obstacle that life throws at her. Sure, she may just be a television character. But for me, she's a role model and theres a lot that can be learned from Queen B.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
