Not only are you my boyfriend, but you're also my best friend

Open Letter To My Boyfriend

Dear darling,

Throughout my high school life, I was always the third wheel or the single pringle that was never ready to mingle. I always felt too awkward to have a boyfriend. I wasn't ready, and I knew I wasn't. Sure, I had my crushes, but they all ended in heartbreak. I was that girl to roll my eyes at other's relationships, and I would always scoff and turn my head the other direction. I regret being that girl, because now I completely understand.

Not only are you my loving boyfriend, but you're also my amazing best friend. You’re the first person to know what is going on in my life, whether it’s good news, or bad news. You're my shoulder to cry on, and I know you will always be there to reassure my life will be okay. You're always the one to root for me and encourage me in everything I do. I know I can count on you to pick me up. I can be myself around you and I know you wouldn't think of me any differently. You always make me feel beautiful everyday, no matter if I'm rocking sweats or wearing no makeup.

Your laugh is contagious. There’s not a day with you when I don't laugh. We’re always joking and having a great time. Your silly puns will always brighten up my day, no matter how ridiculous or corny they are. Your cheesy sense of humor is one of my favorite things about you, and when I'm down with the blues, you know exactly how to lighten up my mood!

One of my favorite qualities about you is how driven you are. You're such a hard worker, and you're determined to achieve your goals. You motivate me to work harder at my job and to worker harder in my studies. You always push me to my full potential. You've taught me so much about dedication, and how to be the very best version of myself.

I know the future holds so many wonderful plans for us. Everyday, we experience new things together. We will always have new adventures to share. We will always have many opportunities to make great memories together. I can't imagine my life without you. Everyday, I fall in love with you more, and everyday, I realize how thankful I am for you. You're the light of my life, and I love you to pieces!

Love always,

Meridith

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
