Hey Homegirls,
For some of us we have already started college classes, moved into our dorms, or started working again. Our high school days seem like a distant memory as we work in the mornings, stay out on week nights, and spend $60 on a textbook. Each one of you came into my life at different times, but each one of you left a lasting mark on the person I am today.
I write this letter to tell you three things.....
I am so proud of you. I'm so proud of you for going to college in another city, I am so proud of you for working your butt off everyday, and making new friends. Seeing ya'll go out of your comfort zones literally makes my heart so happy.
I will not forget you. That is one thing you will not have to worry about. We will make new friends, but honestly no one will compare to the girls that did high school with me. We might not talk as often or even see each other for weeks, but I won't forget all those times the teacher called us down for being too loud or my mom came into my room to tell us to go to sleep. I won't forget the late name jam sessions, trips to awanita, Friday night football, the land, cookout runs, and the many times my car broke down on us. New friends will come, but seriously the memories and awkward times won't compare.
Thank you. I can't thank you enough for the many times you had to pep me up, be honest with me, pay for my lunch, pick me up, edit my essay's, do my makeup, pray for me, and let my get snot all of your shoulder. You were there for me through the awkward middle school stage, scary freshman year, break ups, bad grades, pimples, divorces, college acceptances, and you always listen to my deep thoughts on life. Thank you, seriously for always going above and beyond for me.
I won't ever meet girls like you again. Ya'll were truly once in a lifetime friends and no matter where this new season takes us I want you to know as we said in high school, one day we will see each other get married, have kids, and talk about our husbands.
May the memories live forever in Janice the jeep, the land, Wofford stadium, Japan House, and 500 Dupre Drive.
