An Open Letter To My Future Husband

Because I can't help but wonder where you are right now

To my future husband,

Thank you. I don't know who you are, I don't know if you're across the globe, down the street, or a few states away, but I just need to thank you. You have done something that I didn't know could ever happen, you've made me believe in love again. So, thank you for that, first and foremost.

Like I said, I don't know who you are. I don't know if we've met, I don't know if we have merely passed each other on the street, or if you are out there somewhere else in this crazy world of ours. But I do know this, you must be one hell of a man. I look at men in comparison to my dad—a man who loves his wife unconditionally, his children selflessly, and his Lord greatly. So if you're the one, you must be an amazing man, and I cannot wait to meet you.

I think about the relationship we will have, and I hope it's filled with love, silliness, selflessness, passion, and fun.

In our marriage, I hope we never stop laughing. In our marriage, I hope we never stop challenging one another. In our marriage, I hope we never stop striving to make each other and to make ourselves better. But most of all, in our marriage, I hope each day we love each other more and more.

I can't promise you that I won't tell you the same story 100 times. I can't promise you that I will not drive you absolutely crazy and irritate you to no end. I can't promise you that any of this will be any sorts of easy, but I do promise to love you no matter what.

I think about who you will be so much. Will we be similar? Will you be happy just looking at a beautiful piece of land and a sunset? Will you love baseball? Will you always root for the Giants and against the Dodgers? Will you love country music, Mexican food, and Harry Potter? Or will you be the opposite of me? Will you root for whatever team is playing mine just for fun? Will you challenge everything that I am? Either way, I promise to love you.

I think about when we will meet if we haven't already. I wonder if I'll just know if my crazy life will stop spinning for a second and I'll realize you're "him." I wonder if you'll know it too. I wonder if I've met you already, I wonder if we've already had our first kiss. I wonder what you're doing right now.

I hope your outlook on life is one that challenges my own, I hope it is one I can learn from, aspire, and depend on. I hope your life in this exact second is everything you want it to be. I hope you're making memories that'll turn into lessons for our future children. I hope you know that I love you so much already for everything you aren't even are to me yet.

I love you and I cannot wait to be your wife.

XOXO,

Your Future Wife

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
