An Open Letter To My Ex-Best Friend

The day you judged me for life happening, was the day our friendship ended.

I haven't looked back since.

I could not have imagined my life looking like it does right now. I also couldn’t have imagined that this new life that I love would mean I would lose people I love as well. People who I thought would always be around walked away from me but their void made way for God to feel it with new faces and so much more love. I wondered so long why those people aren’t in my life at this present moment and here is why…

Old ones, this is for you!

To my high school best friend, thank you. Thank you for all the memories, both good and bad. At one point in my life, we hung together every day. Our days consisted of crazy shenanigans and contagious laughs filled every area of my life. I thought our friendship was destined for success, right?

Sadly, I was wrong!

On graduation day, we thought our relationship would never change, we knew our life would, but we knew this one thing would never change. Sadly, it was another thing we were wrong about. We didn’t plan on our life taking a turn for the better for both of us. Well, I hope it turned out how you wanted, we don’t talk at all these days, and somehow I am not upset.

Isn't it funny how life works out?

Looking back today, I'm glad our friendship didn't work out. Not because I did not love you, but I needed this for me. Once college rolled around, we both changed. Our priorities differed and our life goals did not match up. My faith happened and you couldn’t handle that and for that, I am not sorry. Texts and hang out sessions became fewer and fewer until they were non-existent in our lives. However, for me, it was the best thing for me. I learned what a friendship in Christ looks like. I could become who I truly was meant to be without you judging me. That’s what changed for me, I found something you did not fully understand. That hurt me for you not to support me but it’s okay I don’t fault you. I hope you can find something for you.

This is goodbye, old friend.

Thank you for teaching me how to get outside of my comfort zone. Thank you for teaching me the value of friendship in the moment. But this is goodbye for us! I hope life turns out the way you wanted. I hope you find a friend that will be what I couldn’t be for you! I love you old friend!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
