I just wanted to express how glad I am we met. If it wasn't for my boyfriend introducing us, we never would've met in the first place. That's mind blowing to me: knowing that I never would've met a group of wonderful people like you. To be quite honest, I not only call you my boyfriend's friends, but I now call you my friends. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

When we first met, I was nervous, but also excited. I was nervous because I was meeting new people. But, I was excited because I knew my boyfriend and I had enough in common to where his friends would be the type of friends I have. I just want to throw this out there, I hope things weren't awkward when we first met. Again, I was meeting you for the first time, and I didn't know then what I know now: even though I don't see you often, it feels like we've been friends for a long time. You all were welcoming and made me feel like I've always been a part of your friend group. So I thank you for that. At that point, I opened up and everything clicked.

Like I said before, we don't see each other that often. But when we do, I enjoy it so much. I always look forward to hanging out with you guys. We share so many laughs, do a lot of crazy things, and make up for the time lost while we're apart. I enjoy seeing you all on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and I always wish I was there with you. I like knowing that I have a group of friends there to support me and for me to support even though we may not be as close as our "main" group of friends. Which, that's even hard for me to say because I consider you a part of my "main" group of friends despite not seeing each other as much.

To the girls: you girls are so fun-loving and sweet. I like spending time with you! We have some things in common, but the things we don't have in common don't get in our way. We may not be best friends, but I'm glad I can call you my friends.

To the boys: you guys are so much fun, really outgoing and so chill. I also like spending time with you! I'd almost like to say some of you are like brothers to me. You pick on me, in a loving way, but you also would defend me in (almost) any situation. So glad I'm able to call you guys my friends.

I'd like you to know that I have definitely thanked my boyfriend for introducing us, inviting me to do things, and allowing me to hang out with you all. So I want you to know that I'll always be here to talk to and hope you consider me as much of a friend as my boyfriend. You guys are the best and I can't wait to see you again!

With love,

Your friend

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
