An Open Letter to Kim Kardashian

Hi Kim,

I know you're incapable of reading and comprehending a message longer than 140 characters, so I hope someone is near you to read this to you.

I don't know if you've noticed, but you're really famous. No one really understands why, but you are. Regardless of how you achieved your fame, you have a lot of power. You have the ability to speak and reach a huge number of people. You have the ability to reach out and help people in need. You have the ability to donate large sums of money to all kinds of charities. You also have a nice body. I guess you only realized one of those facts since you've been oiled up, stripped, Photoshopped, and plastered all over the internet for the entire world to see.

You do whatever you want, Kim, but I hope you realize how selfish you are and how much of a waste your fame is. Your obviously Photoshopped pictures are helping no one but yourself. Body image is a major issue among young girls, and you are perpetuating it with altered versions of yourself everywhere. You're also perpetuating the idea that women cannot be talented and intelligent. You're a beautiful idiot, and that's by choice.

Like I said, you can do whatever you want, but I hope you know you're making young girls feel like they are supposed to be like you. They stare at themselves in the mirror and wonder when they're going to have a huge butt and a tiny waistline. They expect money to be handed to them. They don't care to go to college and get an education. They just want to be beautiful. Isn't that at least a little sad to you?

It's never too late to change, Kim. I'm urging you to get out there and really make something of yourself. Speak out to girls who hate their bodies and let them know they're beautiful just the way they are. Stop making them think they need to look like you. Donate money to poor schools so young women have an opportunity. Let them know how important that opportunity is. Use your voice to get the attention you crave. Use it in an intelligent way. Stop trying to break the internet. Start trying to break the mold.

You know what to do with that big fat butt. Put some nice pants over it, take it out into the world, and let it sit there while you use your brain for once.

Sincerely,

Amber (from the unbroken internet)

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter
morethanwheels

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
