To my high school best friends,

It's been a while since we've talked and an even longer while since I've seen you. The memories I have with you are so dear to me and while I miss you loads, I know we're all where we need to be. Your Snapchat stories make me smile and your happiness brings me joy.

I'm doing well here and I've made a lot of friends, but nothing can compare to the times we shared together. Hawaiian themed football games followed by late night sleepovers and random drives around town are so different from games in a college stadium and sorority date parties- the Sonic mozzarella sticks even taste different here.

I'm writing this to let you know that no matter how long we go without speaking or how long we go without seeing each other, the place you have in my heart will never be replaced and the memories will never be erased. Our friendship made me into the person I am today and formed me into the friend that I am to those here in college with me. When I get homesick, it's you and our popsicle dates and our movie nights I miss the most.

Laugh as much as you can. Do your homework. Study. Meet people who make you want to be the best version of yourself. Listen to new music and go to concerts. Take care of yourselves.

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
