Open Letter To Anyone Going Through A Breakup In High School

It may seem like the most important thing in the world right now, but in twenty years you may even forget it happened.

It’s going to hurt, and you are going to cry. You will feel abandoned, and who wouldn’t? The person who was your whole world, the only one who was always there for you no matter what, is gone. Everything seems terrible, and there’s no end in sight as to when it’s getting better.

..but that’s where you’re wrong. What now seems like the end of your life is really just the beginning. When you’ve never moved outside of your hometown, the world appears so small. In a few short years, you’ll probably pack up and head somewhere new, meeting tons of new people. Chances are, there is someone out there that’s better suited for you, someone who will love all your favorite things, someone who you won’t fight with as much.

Someone is out there who is willing to give the same level of compassion and commitment that you are, and who would never leave when things get tough. It seems hard to be alone right now, but every breakup gets you closer to where you are meant to be, and who you are supposed to be with.

Although it will probably be one of the toughest things you’ve ever had to do, you need to completely break it off with your ex. If you still call each other every day, kiss like you used to, act like best friends, or even just do them small favors as if you are still dating, then you’ll never give your heart a chance to get over them. Actually treat your breakup like a breakup, and you’ll have a chance of being close with that person sometime in the future when you both are ready.

Although you may not feel awesome right now, there is a day in the near future that you’ll spend looking back at all the time you wasted crying about someone who turned out to be unimportant in your life and you'll wonder why you ever even cared.

Focus on making yourself the person you want to be and spending time with those who care about you, and you’ll be moving on in no time.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
