Many people are away from home this holiday season and are away from their families. Not everyone will make it home this Christmas, but there are several families who do not even know why they cannot be with their families. To those kids and parents who are away from their children my heart goes out to you.

To all of the men and women in the military who are overseas and will not make it home this Christmas my heart goes out to you and your families. This is the second year my whole family gets to be together for the holidays. All of my cousins are out of the military so they are now home with their families and they will be able to join in the family festivities.

To everyone that is in the hospital this holiday season my prayers are with you. My grandfather is currently in the hospital and we are not sure when he will be home. We are hoping he will be home for Christmas, but there is no guarantee. It is never fun to be in the hospital, but especially when you are in the hospital during the holidays, that is never fun.

Not everyone can make it home this holiday season, so make sure you give your loved ones an extra special hug this holiday season! Make sure you treasure the time you have with the ones you love because not everyone will be around forever.

The holiday season is a time to be with your family and to cherish the time you have with them. I know this holiday season I will cherish every moment I have with my family and my friends. Loved ones are how we stay grounded and we need to remember that.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
