I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way, but being in college I seem to be constantly surrounded by a bunch of people who know what they want to do for the rest of their lives. Not only that, but they know when they will be done with school, where they want to live, and how many kids they are going to have. It must be nice going to bed every night knowing exactly what you want. I don’t think I will ever have that, and don’t get me wrong I’m determined and I work very hard, but I’m too indecisive. I have to constantly remind myself that it’s okay. So this one is for all of the 18, 19, and 20-something year olds who are just like me and need to be reminded.

It’s perfectly okay to not know what you want at this age, this is a time for growth and self discovery. Not everyone has everything all figured out yet, and for the people that do have it all figured out… sometimes things happen, things that are out of our control. Sometimes things don’t always turn out the way you want them too. I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason, and there will come a day when I figure out exactly what I want, but until that day I’m going to continue to make strides in the right direction.

Even if you don’t know what this life may hold, the important thing to do is to take it day by day.

Smile.

Be kind to others.

And be ambitious.

Good things don’t really come to those who sit around and wait. As Muhammad Ali once said, He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life. So take risks, there is a whole world at your fingertips and opportunities are abundant for those who work hard. You don’t need to have life all figured out to do that.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
