Dear graduates,
The time has come that you are moving on to bigger and better things. You have finished what is called the “best four years of your life." No more college classes or living in dorms. You get to depart from your college self and become an adult. The last four years have prepared you for this moment. However, I am very sad to see you go. The campus will not be the same without you.
To the seniors I know and love, thank you. Thank you for everything you have done for me for the past year or two. You have taught me so many things in such a short time. No only have you taught me things but you have given me memories to last a lifetime. Not only memories, but a reason to miss you when you’re gone. Classes, campus, teams or anything else wont be the same without you.
To the seniors I just met, thank you. Although I haven’t known you for a long time I wish I had. You have made a heavy impact on my life in such a short amount time. I wish you weren’t graduating in less than a week. Some of you are sticking around and some of you are going back to your hometowns, which are hours away. I wish I had more time to spend making memories with you, but I know this isn’t the end. People come back to college right? That’s what homecoming is for, so I’m not too worried.
Unfortunately, this is life and it goes on, and people move on. I know in two years ill be in your exact same spot and that scares me half to death. I know it hurts to grow up but you don’t stop growing up. Time doesn’t stop.
To the graduates, here is a last piece of advice for you all. As you walk across that stage, think of all the memories you have had at Albright and all the people you have met, good or bad. Take all those experiences and hold on to them. Never let them go. Keep them to help you through tough times where you need a laugh or a piece of advice. Think of the time you stayed up all night with your friends talking about literally nothing. Take all these memories and share them with your children and laugh about them. As much as you don’t want to admit it, those last four years were the best four years of your life. Between the people you have met and the chances you were given its hard to believe that life gets better from here. Sometimes life doesn’t turn out the way you plan but that’s OK. Sometimes you just have to take the long road to get to where you’re going.
So here’s to the seniors, the newly graduated. Whether you are going to grad school, traveling or looking for a job, I wish you all the best. I wish you happiness and luck in whatever you do. Remember to come back and visit us here at Albright. The following year will be strange without you all here but life will go on, as it should. No matter where you go or what you do always remember to have fun and do what you love. If you’re miserable doing what you do then why do it. Life to the fullest and never look back. Thank you for everything you have taught me I couldn’t have asked for better role models.
Lastly, congratulations!
Love,
Your classmate, teammate, sister and friend
