This one goes out to the idealists, the ones who are always on the prowl for goodness in the broken world, and to the mediators who never stop mediating.
Dear Fellow Fixer,
We reside in a broken world, friends. We live in a world full of hate, violence, and immorality. Surely, if you are anything like me, you want to fix it.
We strive to fix just about anything and everything related to people and injustice in the world. Furthermore, we cannot stand drama of any kind - we really just want to fix situations. I was always the mediator in petty school drama, and even in drama today. Furthermore, there is no logic behind why us fixers are always the mediators of arguments; it's in our nature. This is why cannot stand taking sides, we avoid it at all costs!
We do not make decisions. Fixers are the most "go with the flow" people on this planet. Whether it be choosing a restaurant or choosing a solid opinion on certain controversial matters, decisiveness is not in our "thing".
Also, we are the ones couples always go to for relationship advice, and many times we are caught up in the middle of it. Whether we are pros at giving relationship advice or not, we always seem to get caught up in the middle. I was the one to give relationship advice before I even started dating... And even though my advice was awful, I just liked to at least try fixing things!
Oh, fellow fixer, embrace your desire to fix. Further your desire to help people, situations, and the world. Do not look at your "fixer" nature and wish you were someone else, you are unique and the world needs fixers. Unfortunately, you may fall and get hurt along the way. People get in the way and discourage you saying that you cannot fix the world; and it's true, we can't fix the ENTIRE world but we can fix parts of it.
I love to help people. However, it's not always the "love to help people" part that appeals to me, but rather the opportunity to spread the love God reveals to us to those who need. I love showing love, even if it's simply being an ear to listen and I'm sure you do too!
As a fixer, I've learned that I cannot fix everything. Unfortunately, people and life can be so cruel. Sometimes us fixers get easily discouraged because of this and we end up turning our backs. Many people can care less about helping to fix injustice, poverty, or simply broken people. Fellow fixer, use your instrument; continue fixing and remember that your small actions can make a huge impact on a life or a situation. I believe in you, fellow fixer!
