An Open Letter To A Struggling Friend

Hey Friend,

I’d like to start off by telling you that you’re not alone. No matter how many people tell you this or how cliché it sounds, it’s one of the truest things that I can say to you. So many people are going through very similar experiences like yours right now, and I know that it is hard, but you are not the only one. Sometimes hearing this helps, and other times it makes it harder because your heart is so big and you don’t want to see others hurting, but I just want you to know that these feelings that you have are okay, and it will get better.

The thoughts that you’re having right now are temporary. I know that you’re in a dark place. I know that you’re struggling more than you can even put into words. I know that some days it is hard for you to even get out of bed, and that the thought of eating makes you sick sometimes. But these feelings are just temporary. Someday soon, these feelings will go away, I promise. I know it won’t be today, or tomorrow, or next week, but I know that one day you will look around at all of the good in your life and all that you’ve accomplished, and you will be happy. In the grand scheme of things, these days of sadness and heartache won’t mean a whole lot, even if they mean the world now.

You can get through this. You are one of the strongest people that I have ever met, and this is just an obstacle that you will overcome. I have so much faith in you, and I know that you are strong enough to make it through. And on the days when you aren’t, I will be there by your side to help you up and carry you along, because that is one of the many things I’m here to do as your friend.

You deserve so much more than the things that you are feeling right now. You deserve all of the happiness in the world. I have never met a person that deserved as much greatness from the world as you do. You give so much and never expect a thing in return, and this is something that I admire so much about you. But it is time that you let life give back some of the things that you’ve given it. You are so selfless, and sometimes you need to be a little bit selfish. After all, your happiness needs to come before others sometimes. If you don’t find happiness, how can you give it to others?

Let people in. Let people love you and spoil you and give you everything that you have ever wanted. Accept the good in life. Don’t run away because you’re scared that things are going too well. Embrace every good thing in life, because although these things don’t last forever, they are amazing while they last.

I love you so much, and I cannot wait to see what life has in store for you. You are going to do great things in this life, so please don’t be afraid to let great things happen in return. You’re amazing, you’re beautiful inside and out, and you are loved so much more than you can ever imagine.

Sincerely,

The Best Friend Who Wants the Best for You

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out.
