I miss you sis, and I know this is a part of growing up but I just hope you miss me just as much.

An Open Letter To My Sister While She's Away In College

I miss you. Growing up for 17 years with you stuck to my side is something that I remember every day. You leaving me for college hasn't been the easiest thing, that for sure. It has indeed though been a good thing. When we were young we used to fight about anything and everything. Now since you have moved away, everything has changed. When you come in town I cherish every second I get to spend with you. I try to take time out of every day that you're here so I can hang out with you like old times. It's hard to see you leave not knowing when iIll see you again.

A couple things I want you to know..

I'm proud of you!

I'm proud of everything you are accomplishing over there. I'm proud of you for keeping your grades up and achieving honor roll. I'm proud of you for making it on your own(because I know I couldn't). I'm proud, I wish I could be a part of it.

You're always going to be my go-to.

Of course I'm branching out and making new friends but all in all I want you to know that you are my ultimate go to and you always will be. No one could ever replace the bond I have with you. I trust you with my life, and that will never change. You will forever be my number one best friend no matter how far we part.

I love who you have become.

College no doubt changes a lot of people; some for the good and some for the bad. For you, I think it has done tremendous things. You've truly become a beautiful and vibrant young lady. You have matured into someone I wish to become one day. You give me hope that college will do great things for me, as it did for you.

It's not the same without you here.

Sitting at the dinner table every night, talking about how all of our days' went, and not hearing yours always throws me off. It's not the same if you're not sharing your day with us. Going to church on Sundays and not having you sit right next to me, is quite different. Going to school and not seeing you there is the biggest thing that affects me. I always loved just seeing you and getting to say hey, hope you're having a good day. Or hey lets hangout when I get home. It's all so different when you're 120 miles away from me.

I hope you're having fun.

I truly hope that this is the best four years of your life like everyone proclaims. I hope you're experiencing everything you have been waiting for. I hope that you get to see new things and try new things. From what I see, I can tell you're having the time of your life and that warms my heart. I'm so glad to see you happy.

I hope you're achieving everything you planned.

I know going into college you had no idea what you were going to do. You didn't have a set major or anything. Now that you know, I hope you are achieving the goals you set for yourself. I won't let you get away with it if you're not. I'm always going to try and help you or at least stay on you about achieving them.

I hope you think of me like I think of you.

Is it weird that I'm aways thinking about what you're doing or who you're talking to? I'm always curious , but I never want to bother you. (So P.S.: if you're ever feeling lonely call me, I'll always answer.)

And lastly , I hope you miss me like I miss you.

I miss you sis, and I know this is a part of growing up but I just hope you miss me just as much.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
