Congratulations! You did it. You are on to bigger and better things now. You have finished high school and are ready to become an adult, but before this can happen, you have to graduate.

Graduation day is something that you look forward to your whole life. It's finally the day you can say "I did it, I'm done with high school." It's a very exciting time because there are so many emotions going on. You don't know whether to feel happy you're done with high school, sad because you're going to be leaving your friends and family or excited because you are going to be in a new environment with new people. It will be your first time that you are completely on your own, which is scary and amazing all at the same time. But graduation day still needs to happen before anything else is possible.

On this day, instead of feeling many different emotions, you will probably only feel one thing. Joy. You are going to feel so joyful that those long, hard high school years are finally behind you. Now, you have better things to look forward to. You will feel joy when you start getting ready for the day. You will feel joy when you arrive at the school. You will feel joy when you see your classmates in their caps and gowns and when you walk in to be seated. You will feel overjoyed when you listen to the valedictorian and salutatorian speeches because it will take you back to freshmen year and all those memories you made in between. It won't hit you that you graduated. It won't hit you that you may never see some of these people that you grew up with again. And it won't hit you that you will be leaving your best friends in just a short three months. It won't hit you until the summer is over and you realize that it is time to say goodbye.

There is something important that you need to know and its that you shouldn't be in such as rush to grow up and move on with your life, slow down and enjoy the time you have with all the people you love. You will have plenty of time to be an adult and rush around at college, but this summer, on this day; stop and slow down. Think about all the wonderful memories you have shared together. Think about what you will miss most about your hometown, even though you claim to hate it. I know you are ready to move on to the next chapter of your life, but once you're gone, you will miss it. You will miss those summer nights with your best friends. You will miss your family and you will miss that town that you so eagerly left behind.

I know as well as anyone how excited and anxious you are to leave everything and start the next phase of your life. It is an exciting time, but just remember as you walk into that high school for the last time and walk across that stage to stop and truly reflect on those memories that you will hold near and dear to your heart.

Congrats class of 2016! Live this summer up because it will go by quicker than you think.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
