Dear Sacred Heart University Professors,
From freshman year, you began as a force to be reckoned with through our first college essays, midterms, finals, and inevitably that first bad grade. This bad grade sets the standard for future work. It’s a reality check and while we may be cursing your name, it teaches us the value of quality of work. Plus, it helps that you’re willing to sit with us and go over improvements for the future. This personal meeting sets the standard for the relationship and usually clears up any confusion.
You’ve taught us the value of organization. You have a test, three essays, and a group project all due in one week??? No worries, while it’s super overwhelming and you may be so mad, you learn the value of time and managing our priorities. So while we may be frustrated with your lack of consideration, we don’t take it too personally and realize the value in juggling multiple assignments as well as using you for a resource.
So sophomore year comes around and we’re basically experts now. We’ve learned the art of balancing our time, but maybe too well. Procrastination sets in and we become overwhelmed really quickly. At this point, we’re so comfortable meeting with you guys that we’re there almost biweekly.
Junior year is the best for this relationship. While the work is unstoppable, your relationship with your profs is the best. There’s nothing better than having your professor be your cheerleader and your mentor all at once. It’s a strong support system especially because they understand the pressure and the difficulty of the program.
Senior year is yet to be written for me. I imagine an even closer relationship with my professors and an even richer experience.
So, thank you for being there. Thank you for making the $50,000 worth it. Thank you for the challenge. Thank you for the knowledge. Thank you for providing a judgment free zone to learn. Thank you for constantly providing guidance and support when we’re confused. Thank you for understanding.
Sincerely,
SHU Students
