To whomever you guys are,

I just want to say CONGRATS on finding yourself someone is very special and loving. You will never find another person like them. Both of my siblings are very special and unique. Make sure you give them the world because (even though I do not want to admit it) they both deserve the world. They have the biggest heart of all people that I know. They would do anything to make sure you are happy and loved. This day will be truly amazing.

Welcome to the family (but you need to pass the test first)...

For this, you are forever loved. Since I know my siblings would not want to marry someone who is not wonderful.

You have joined this wonderful family of mine, but you are not getting off easy. I am going to set some rules.

First, I'm just going to say it, but you are not the first person they have loved. Each has loved my parents alongside my other sibling and me first. This means that we are the most important people. Sorry, but you will always be second.

Second, my parents are the most people important in their world. Yes, you deserve the time of my sibling, but my parents deserve more. My parents are the ones who make sure you pick up the phone and listen to them. Never complain whenever they say that you guys are going to visit my parents.

Third, Thanksgiving and the 4th of July are already booked with my family. You can not get out of these holidays, for they will be surrounded by my family. No matter where you are, you will be spending these holidays with my family.

Fourth, you better make sure that your house door is always opened for me. I will always be able to come over with no questions or arguments asked.

My siblings are some of the most important people in my life. They have been with me through thick and thin, creating a countless number of memories that mean a lot to me. These people deserve the world, so promise me that you will give it to them.

I am sorry if I was ever bitter to you for this is a special moment in my siblings’ life that I would cherish forever. This is a real moment where my sibling is getting sent off to have an entirely new life with someone that is not me. After living with my siblings for over 21+ years, it can be challenging to admit that they will be living with someone that is not me.

Again, congrats, but I am truly shocked that either one of my siblings found someone crazy enough to join this family. I am excited to be expanding my family to you. I hope you cherish these moments and enjoy the rest of your life.

Just look how cute we are. RIP to high school sports (#21 for life).

XOXO,

Your favorite sister-in-law

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
