Kids, your parents love you most, your grandparents love you second most, but I love you third most :)
It wasn't until high school I realized why I love babysitting so much. There's something about watching someone else's kids while they're not home that made me feel trusted and responsible. I also learned a different kind of love from kids. The kind of love that's innocent and has no strings attached. Kids show so much love because they have it in them and it's endless.
Dear parents,
I hope you know how blessed you are with the kids you have, because they're going to be the most gentle and sweetest people when they grow up. I know firsthand that you are raising them well and are giving them all the love they deserve. Thank you for letting me be a part of their lives and letting me love them too. You have let me prepare for the ups and downs of having my own kids one day, I've also seen all different styles of parenting and they're all great in their unique way. And thank you for always staying in touch with me to update me on the kids' lives and how they're doing. I always miss them, all of them. I miss cuddling with them and playing with them, ordering pizza or Chinese and watching a funny movie.
I want you to know how grateful I am for trusting me with your little ones. It's not easy to just put your kids with a complete stranger, and I never mind getting texts asking how things are going. Your kids are all wonderful and I'm lucky to babysit them!
Dear kids,
Thank you for being excited to see me when I come over for mommy and daddy's date nights. Nothing warms my heart more than seeing your happy faces and getting hugs when I walk in the door. I love every one of you and you'll always have a special place in my heart. I've also learned something from each of you that I will carry with me always. You have made babysitting a rewarding experience for me.
I hope you learned something from me, maybe listened to something you wouldn't believe from mom and dad. Or maybe learned a lesson about life from my point of view. One day I hope you'll say "my old babysitter taught me that."
Lots of love and hugs!
Nothing I've done is more rewarding than babysitting. Just hearing a family is moving away breaks my heart, or that someone's kid is sick. But it shows the connection I have with every family. I hope I can do just as good of a job with my future kids as the parents I've come in contact with and their kids.
Every babysitter is different, but we all have the same goal: to not have to change a single diaper until mommy gets home :)
