As the eight years of the most influential President I have ever known comes to an end, I wanted to take a moment to thank both him and his family for changing the world and for making it what it is today.

Dear Obama family,

When you entered office in 2009, I was in the early years of being a "tween". I didn't fully understand why it was such a big deal that a black man was running for office. All I knew was that it was going to be different and maybe different was good. Maybe we needed different. I remember going to bed that night and my mom coming into my room and saying, "He won. He won. Barack Obama is our new President!"

Whenever you speak, there is something about it that I find comforting. There's power, there's dignity, there's strength, and there's leadership. I knew that you were going to do great things.

Every person you met, you gave them respect. Despite the difficulties that there might be between the United States, foreign countries, and their leaders, you handled it with such class.

You have been hated on since the beginning and throughout your presidency, you stayed composed. People said that Obama was going to take the guns away, make America worse than what it was before. That wasn't the case. In the eight years, you have been the leader of the free world, you have changed the world. You have brought the economy back up from the crisis it was in, calmed us when there were shootings throughout the United States, gave aid during international crisis', defended Planned Parenthood, shown your support for gay marriage, and have given health care for those who didn't have access. You have served as President through the United States' most fragile time. There has been nothing but respect given to the people by you and your family.

Michelle, you have become such a role model for not only young women around the country but men as well. You have taught us how to live a fun and healthy life through your speeches. You have shown how much we should care about our education. You have changed the school system by bringing in healthy options and getting rid of many unhealthy ones. You have taught the world that women should not be sexualized for their bodies and that we can accomplish anything we set our minds to. You have taught the world to not let people change us. That, "when they go low, we go high".

Your daughters have shown the world how to act in the public eye. That even though their father is the most powerful man in the world, they're still just normal girls. They still hang out with friends, go to concerts, and have a good time.

Thank you, for all your family has done for this country and world. You all have single handily changed the world for the better. You will truly be missed.

Thank you,

From all of us

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
