Thank you for being you.

An Open Letter To My Person
Katelyn Tremblay

Dear My Person,

The past 13 years of my life, you have been there by my side. Not many people can say that they meet their other half in kindergarten and continue to build a stronger bond as each day continues. You have seen me at my worst, and have seen me at my best. Even if we weren't as close at one point, you were still by my side always. We have gone through it all together, through thick and thin, and I wouldn't want anyone else by my side.

Thank you for allowing me to always step outside of my comfort zone. Thank you for being so brave and empowering. Thank you for always staying true to yourself. Thank you for inspiring me. Thank you for always being a call away even though you're four hours away. Thank you for the nights when I just need a large pizza and a movie. Thank you for our adventures when we have no destination.

Your family has always been mine, along with my family being yours. You have taught me to never be afraid to voice my own opinion and especially never hide my beliefs. When something has gone wrong, you have always been the one to pick up the pieces and helped me move forward even stronger than I was before.

So again, thank you. For never doubting me, for always accepting my faults. Thank you for the never ending laughs, and cries. Thank you for always being honest with me, even if it was something I didn't want to hear. Thank you for suffering the bowl cuts in elementary school with me. Thank you for telling everyone with me in first grade that we were sisters and separated at birth. Ever since then, I knew you would be my person always. Thank you for being you and being my best friend. Forever and always. Xoxo

Sincerely,

Your Person

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
