An Open Letter To Millennials From A Millennial

We Need to Get Our Act Together

Dear Millennials,

From one millennial to another, I have to say I am quite disappointed with all of us. We are seen as a rude generation, always on our phones, and whine when we do not get our way. There is just so much pettiness. Why do you want to be known as this? We are so much better. We need to take the time to listen to other people's opinions and beliefs. If a person says something that you do not agree with, calmly tell them your opinion. Do not get so easily angered. That causes arguments and chaos. Our world is already in chaos and we should not be adding to it. We are the ones that can make the world a better place. We cannot do that when we are arguing over what others personally think and believe. Rudeness is not acceptable. We should be appreciating our elders and have respect for them. Many of them have gone through enough in their lifetime and they do not need another "punk" being extremely rude to them. We need to show the generations before us that we are capable of handling ourselves and the world they are going to leave to us. Pettiness is something that cannot happen all the time. It's like picking your battles. Pick the right times to be petty. An example of an okay time to be petty is when you find out someone has cheated on you. That is a fine time to do it, but other times like after the election results is not a good time. Now, I do know that some of you are still heartbroken about what has happened election wise but too many whine about it and do not think any of this through. Some of us believe that Trump is already in office and for you folks that do, he is NOT in office yet. He won't be sworn in until mid to late January. For those that are really mad Clinton supporters, please just give the man a chance. We really have no idea what he will do until he is actually in office so do not judge him for his works. For those that decided to have protests and what not, I love your enthusiasm for trying to get Clinton into office after the winner was announced but, America already voted and as a nation, we voted for who would be best for our country. I know I have 'triggered' a lot of people with this but it needs to be said. We need to stop acting like children and be the civilized adults we are supposed to be.

Sincerely,

A Millennial Hoping For Better Millennials

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
