Hi, it’s me your big.
I just wanted to say that I am so thankful that I picked you up on preference day. I’m so happy you “dabbed” on preference day because it showed me that you can be yourself and you don't put on any act. That’s when I knew you had to be in this house. I will always remember the first day I talked to you about recruitment because we clicked so easily. I felt like I had known you for years, and I told you that way too many times. I felt like I could talk to you for hours, and I instantly trusted you. When you left me on preference day, I couldn’t fathom the idea of you not being in my house. You reminded me so much of myself, and I was so happy you ran home to me on bid day. You don’t care about what people think; you are always in your world. That’s what I love about you. That’s why I needed you not only in my house, but in my life as well. You inspire me to care a little less, and give a bit more.
Let me tell you a bit of what you are in for in your freshman year. It’s funny looking back at how naive I was freshman year, but that was all the fun of it. I remember ordering dominos at 1 a.m. even though I always said I wouldn’t. I remember every football game and how special I felt to be a part of the Cougar fam. From Dad’s weekend to spring semester at Fratio, so many things had changed, but not in a bad way. You start to figure out who you click with and who you don’t. As cheesy as it sounds, you truly find yourself during your freshman year. I think this is because you’ve been doing things you’ve never done before like share another room with someone else 24/7, being in a sorority, and the new load of work. I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun it is looking back.
Freshman year is one for the books. It’s the year you meet new people, have new experiences, and get closer with your sisters. You will experience good situations, many weird situations, and some bad. But don’t let it get you down, it’s only bound to play out like that. Everything works out like it’s supposed to, and you realize you are exactly where you are meant to be. It takes some getting used to, but once Pullman feels like home, there’s no comparison to it.
You are similar to me in so many ways, and I can’t wait to watch you experience all that you will. You will have times where you just want to go home, and you will have moments when you just want to quit school. But let me tell you, it’s all so worth it. The people, the atmosphere, the love that the people of Washington State have for the school and each other is incomparable to anything else. It’s such a relieving feeling going back to school, and I know you will feel the same way, or maybe already do. I can’t wait to see you experience your first formal, getting initiated, and finding your place in this wonderland.
It's something special when you get to experience a college town like Pullman, and even more special when I have someone like you to experience it with. You are such a light-hearted lovable person, and I am so lucky to have you in my life. I cannot wait for our friendship to grow, and I cannot wait for you to continue to be in my life. Well here’s to you, little. I can’t wait to spend the next three years by your side. I love you!
Your big,
Britt
