Open Letter To The LGBT Community
ALGBTICAL

Dear LGBT Community,

This letter is to you. In this world you are getting so much hate. So much of your rights are being taken away, given back and taken away again. You don't need that. This letter to you will not have a single ounce of hate in it. It has the opposite, it has all the love that I can give to you right now. In your darkest days, there should be light, there should be love and even forgiveness. You may not know it, but someone does love you. You might not see it right now in a world full of hate and anger, but there is a rainbow at the end of the tunnel, no pun intended.

I may not know you personally, but I love you. Why? Because there are people out there that hate you for no reason. There are people that don't even want to be your friend because you like the same gender, you're a transgender, or you're just part of the LGBT community in general. Though people may hate you, people might strongly dislike you, I love you. There has to be one person that should tell you that. To tell you that no matter what, no matter what you do, you have love in your life and you know what it feels like.

I will be your family. Many of the LGBT community have parents who disown them, family who don't agree with their lifestyle, family members that tell them that they are wrong, but no matter what I will be your family. I will support you. I will support your rights. I will cheer you on when you get into a relationship, I will be proud of you when you come out to someone, you will know that someone will hold your hand when you take the next step it takes in your transgender process. That's what family is supposed to do.

I will fight for your rights in this world. Why should someone tell you that you don't have rights? Why should you be any different than the rest of us? I mean come on, it's the 21st century. People should have to stop fighting to get rights in the world, especially in America. Your rights matter as much as everybody else's. Wanna get married? Go for it. Wanna go donate blood? Go save a life! Wanna go to church because you believe in God, no matter what people say? Then you go celebrate your religion and be proud of it! Don't ever let someone tell you that you do not have a place.

If you want to come out to someone, come out to me. I get it, it is hard to come out to anybody in today's world without being judged. It's fear that people are going to hate you and make your life so extremely miserable. You don't need that type of hate in your life. Once you come out for the first time, it might actually be a little easier for you to come out to other people. I will still tell you that I am proud of you for being able to tell someone and I hope that no matter where you go in life, it will be easier for you.

Never in my life will I ever put you down for your life style or treat you any differently. You are still a human being and want to be treated as such. I will get to know your likes, your dislikes, your favorite things, and even your dreams and goals. Cause that is what makes you who you are. You aren't any less human than the rest of the people in this world. You are still the same person as you were yesterday. The same person you will be tomorrow.

You will always have a place in my heart. I feel so strongly about the LGBT getting rights. There is so much hate and anger in this world that one person who can accept you might help to start making a difference. I will go to any gay parade with you. Will be more than happy to go to rallys with you. Be a supporter of you. I promise you that.

No matter what happens in this world, I want you to know that you will have somebody by your side. You will have someone that will be a huge supporter, your friend, your family and someone that will love you. This world is to terrible place to be alone in this world. Let me be the person that will always be by your side.

Sincerely,

Someone Who Feels Strongly About Your Rights

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
