Dear soon-to-be college Seniors,
I am writing this to all of those who have just finished up their Junior year and plan to graduate in just two semesters. Scary, isn't it? How the time flew by effortlessly these past three years. Well, maybe not effortlessly, but you get the point. College has had it's highs and lows, but we should be thankful for both. I'm sure you won't miss those professors who kept you every class until the last minute and made your finals cumulative, and the tragedy that is your cafeteria. However, I'm sure you'll miss the laughs you've shared with the friends you've made and the nights you came stumbling home with them from the local bar. I'm sure you'll miss the epic heart to hearts you have with near strangers during finals week, and I'm almost positive you'll miss the wonderful journey of growth and experience you've endured.
With this I implore you to cherish every moment of senior year, and not wish for graduation to come any sooner. Because trust me, who wants to pay those loans anyway. School is important, don't get me wrong, but remember who you are senior year. Don't get consumed by your GPA, the two dollars in your bank account, and all the friends you just wave past on campus. Know who you are, your raw self. Study hard, but also make great memories. We're all going to end up in the "real world" anyway.
Learn to cherish the small things. Learn to love who you have become. Learn and love that the hard times consisting of meltdowns and overloads shaped you into the strong person you are right now. Learn to not stress over the small things. You cross paths with the right person at the wrong time or maybe it was the right time just not the right person- and that's okay. Don't wish for the weekend, live in the present. Let's face it, we all know senior year is going to fly by and it won't be long before we're working a 9-5 job and missing the college essence.
I guess what I'm saying is soak it all in before it's all gone. Live in the here and now, and live life to the fullest. While this seems cliché, it is definitely the truth.
I wish you all an epic and most memorable senior year.
All the best,
D
