An Open Letter to Hillary R. Clinton

To Mrs. Hillary Rodham Champion Clinton,

I hope that this letter will one day come into your hands, and you will be reminded of the empowerment you brought and will continue to bring to all of the women across the nation. We have watched as you dedicated your life to the empowerment of not only women, but to every single living person in the United States, we have watched all of your hard work, we have watched as you fought tooth and nail to be the 2016 President Elect. We lived the heart break with you.

Myself, along with so many other women in this nation stayed up on November 8th, 2016 to see a woman finally win an election. We sat watching the numbers come in anticipating what you would deliver in your speech, because we knew it was going to be the most humbling, and moving speech you would have delivered yet. We believed in you. We still believe in you. And, we will always believe in you.

Mrs. Champion, we heard you on November 9th, 2016... "never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams." (Clinton, 2016). In that very moment, of utter disappointment, complete vulnerability, and heartbreak, you still stood in front of the entire nation to instill empowerment among us all. And, to me, that is the definition of a true champion.

You see, for me it wasn't just because you were a woman, although that was a plus. And, I would be telling a tale if I did not admit that was part of the reason for my support. However, you had my support because I could genuinely see your care and concern for the American people. I could see that you were obviously more qualified for the position, I could see that you genuinely believed in us. You have never mocked us.

From the bottom of my heart, and from the hearts of approximately 61,324,576 individuals (probably more by the time this reaches you), thank you. Thank you, for never giving up, thank you, for believing in us, thank you, for continuously working day in and day out for the American people. Thank you, HRC for showing us what it truly means to preserve. And, finally... thank you, for dedicating your life to improve the quality of life for us.

We will never understand why this all turned out the way that it did... but, I will remain hopeful along with you, that we will one day see a woman president. I will forever stand as a #NastyWoman.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
