Dear Class of 2017,
Congrats on finishing half way through your senior year! You are almost there to the finish line and can't wait till June to walk across the stage. You may be dreading right now for that moment to come or may be you feel scared to know what happens in your future.
After all, it is March now where admission officers are currently reading over your application. You have a sense of fear or rejection if you do not get picked to your first school or you are stressed that you may need to apply to additional scholarships to go to college. ALL OF THESE EMOTIONS YOU ARE FEELING RIGHT NOW, ARE PERFECTLY FINE. Right now it's just the daunting wait time period.
However for those who may have heard back already and got accepted, I applaud you! There is nothing better than seeing a big envelope saying "CONGRATULATIONS" written across the packet.
Meanwhile, as for those who have had the unfortunate circumstance to see the REJECTION LETTER, I feel your pain. I personally have been on both sides of the spectrum and the first reaction when you feel rejected is to give the middle finger at the college who didn't accept you or cry. My best advice is to let out all of your emotions you are feeling and march on forward to prove to that college THAT THEY WERE WRONG. After all everything happens for a reason, and if that means you have to start from the ground up, well get back to the grind my friend.
Aside from the stressful academic point of view on senior year, you also may experience nostalgic moments as you walk through the hallways. You may ask yourself a couple of these questions, " Wait, am I no longer going to wear the #29 jersey for basketball anymore? If I am, then who is going to wear it, when I am no longer there? Will this will be my last time performing on stage in front of an audience? Will I still talk to the same friends I have now after a year later? Wait.. I'm going to graduate and might be going to college??!!"
You may miss those moments of high school, however I am sure you will not miss the school cafeteria food, having to wake up early, or see some staff/people you dislike. After all it is the "high school experience" and some may have had more/less s***** experiences than others. THAT'S OKAY.. IF YOU DIDN'T LIKE HIGH SCHOOL, LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL IS A NEW BEGINNING (clique as it seems).
However, as a freshmen in my spring semester at Umass Amherst, I do reminisce some moments during my senior year. Therefore, senior class of 2017 enjoy the last thrill of the ride whether it be prom, senior activities, or whatever makes you happy. Make some history during your senior year whether it be big or small, it's your life, your decisions. Wish you well! :)
