An Open Letter To Some Of The Greatest People I've Met

Perhaps it's time for me to show a little bit of appreciation

Throughout this week, I’ve had the opportunity to hang out and catch up with some of my best friends. Of course, there was lots of food involved. If not, it wouldn’t be a hang out, right?

Although it’s only been three weeks of my new college life, it has felt like an eternity. I missed these individuals so much! The amount of talking and laughing we both did brought memories and a sense of home. Now, I’m taking a math class where one of them isn’t there to help me through it. I no longer walk into my first class with a familiar face. There’s no more random distributions of food in the classroom or hallways when we’re all starving. So reminiscing about these days have brought us even closer together.

My friend Dulce reminded that even though we’re considered adults, a good laugh while eating fruit with lots of spiciness and pretending we can dance to a Wii Game is something that we will always need. Her and I are basically comadres and the conversation never ends.

Then there’s Natalie who together we’re always eating our feelings out with Chipotle or Panera. We tend to remind ourselves that even though there’s so much stress in our lives, a good parked car conversation always keeps us grounded.

My love, Diana, who I can always call and we’ll cry together over sad movies (blame "The Fault in Our Stars" for this tradition). We’re accepting of the fact that we’re crybabies, and we blame the movies itself for being so sad instead of us for being so emotional. Of course, our traditional food is ice cream, butter pecan to be exact. Although we always add some other kind of dessert and perhaps Wendy’s when we feel fancy.

Julissa is the most adventurous out of all of them. From deciding to join a Zumba class that day of the week and halfway through calling it quits to singing One Direction from the top of our lungs although we can’t reach Harry’s high notes (yet we still try).

But when it comes to the most dedicated fan, that goes to Isa. I’ve never met a more dedicated person when it comes to celebrities. I’m always being lectured on how great Fifth Harmony is and her traveling around the States. Even though she’s younger than I am, I aspire to be like her.

I have so much love and appreciation for these human beings. They’re making life not suck as much, and all by encouraging me to keep going in their own ways. So if any of you are reading this, I love you.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
