An Open Letter To My Fur Baby

No matter what type of fur baby you have, these words ring true.

An Open Letter To My Fur Baby

Dear Fur Baby,

There is so much love, laughter, and life experiences I have shared with you. You have helped me through so much, and I don't think I would be able to be where I am today if you were not in my life. No matter what happens, you will always be family to me.

I wanna start off by saying that you are the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. When we got you when I was younger, I did not think that we would be so close to one another. I took for granted being able to see you on a daily basis, and I wish that I had appreciated it more when I was in school/at home. You went with me through some pretty rough times, like break-ups or my eye surgeries, and supported me through the good times, like my graduation from high school. There is so much more I am thankful for, Bubber, but these are the main things.

Thank you for constantly finding a way to make me smile. You are such a silly girl, and even in some of the darkest times of my life you somehow managed to make me feel a little better. Whether it is your goofy little smile or the random times you play with treats, you always manage to make the room brighter. This is a quality about you I am not sure everyone possesses. Let's face it, your smile is addictive baby girl.

Although you are an older dog, you still act like a puppy. It is hard to believe my parents when they say "oh yeah she's 13." Baby girl you need to slow down! It feels like just yesterday we picked you up and brought you home with us. I wasn't happy that you went to the bathroom on the way home on me, but you were not even a year old. You didn't know any better. I love how energetic you still are, and even with a torn ACL, you still try to be the same energetic self when you can. We practically grew up together, so it is going to be so hard when I have to say goodbye to you. I can't see my life without you, honey. I want you to know that I am gonna try and do what I can when the time comes, but for now let's focus on the positive aspects that you contain.

Peach, as we continue to grow, I want you to know that I love you no matter what. Things happen for a reason, but I want to be able to support you whether I am home or not. Sure, it can be hard, but it is so worth it. I always ask about you when I call my parents, and you are generally on my mind when I think of home. I don't see you as much as mom and dad. It can be difficult, but I am gonna be there for you as you were for me when we were younger. I want you to know that I love you, and you are the best fur baby I could ever ask for!

Sincerely,

A loving owner

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

9 Reasons Why Friends Are Essential In College

College without friends is like peanut butter without jelly.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
