We are called many things. Things such as goofy, stupid and idiots. We are told that we can't take things seriously. It is assumed that we can't take things seriously. We are the carefree.
When I say carefree, I do not mean careless. There is a major difference. I have been in college for a little over two years now. My greatest memories involve me doing the dumbest of things. These things such as climbing statues, playing frisbee in a gym full of people and running through packed classrooms dressed as a pilgrim. I have learned to enjoy life in a whole new way in the last couple years. I have learned to not let the opinions of others determine the quality of my time.
Lets talk about what it means to be careless. Careless people don't have goals. Careless people don't enjoy their time. It is not often that you run into someone careless who has true joy. That is where the difference lies. Where do you find your joy? The carefree, find their joy and contentment in Christ and live a life that rests on the fact that God is in control. The careless person doesn't have joy because they don't have contentment placed anywhere.
I think you know the difference. You have often seen people of each kind. I tell you, from the mouth of all the carefree people, don't treat us the same. We have goals. We have dreams. We often care more than we let on. Get to know us and you will agree.
I encourage you to come join the carefree. The greatest thing is when you realize that the negative thoughts and opinions of others do not define who you are. I know my worth is in Christ and that one person who thinks that I'm an idiot for wearing a pilgrim costume all day, in all honesty, that person is probably jealous of all the fun I'm having.
So let's leave it at this. This "open letter" from the carefree is all about one thing: worth. My worth is in the loving and accepting arms of Christ. He allows me to live my life with true hope and faith that He will meet all my needs. Why worry? Why care what everyone thinks? You may look at my silliness and call me careless. That's fine. My joy isn't swayed by your opinions of me anyway.
