I hope this summer is the best one yet.

A Letter To The Friends I Am Going To Miss This Summer

My Dear Friend,

1. I am going to miss you dearly.

The late night adventures. The getting to see you every day. The random hugs. Those moments when you just can’t stop laughing, and you don’t know why. Please know, I’m going to miss it all so much.

2. I Hope your summer is full of adventure.

I hope you do something different with your summer. Something, you have never done before. I hope you meet new people, and discover just how big this world is.

3. When you are on this adventure, I hope you are challenged.

I hope you meet people who challenge you. I hope you meet people that challenge you and your beliefs. I hope you work so hard for something that it requires strength and a whole lot of courage.

4. I hope you get to smile, a lot.

Whatever it is and however your life is going, I hope you find something to smile about. There always is.

5. Please don’t forget to be bold.

Take some risks. No, I do not mean those crazy ones that cause you to break your arm. I mean maybe, just maybe, you take a risk for the God who did so much for you. I don’t know if this means jumping on a plane and spreading his name across the world, maybe it does. It could, possibly, just be telling someone about him. Maybe for you the boldness is just trusting him a little bit this summer. Whatever it is I hope you’re bold for the Lord this summer.

6. Make every day count.

I hope you realize that every day is such a gift. That your days, my love, are numbered. With this in mind, I hope you choose something to do with meaning. I hope you do not get stuck in doing something every day just for the money. Something that one day, when you get to heaven, God will get to smile about.

7. If nothing else, get to know the Lord more.

You may not know him at all, and that’s okay. Get to know him. Say a prayer, open the bible, let him speak to you. I promise He will. It could be possible, you think you know most things about God. To this, I would smile and say, there is always more to discover with God. Everything I have said so far: The wanting adventures for you, the smiles, the wanting you to be challenged, the wanting you to become bold, making everyday count, it all comes from this. It comes from just getting to know the Lord. Just remember my friend; You were made by God for God and until you realize this nothing is ever going to make sense.

I hope your summer is amazing.

Sincerely,

Your friend that loves you so, so much.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
