An Open Letter To The Friend Going Through A Tough Time

Dear Friend,

A lot has changed in your life over a short period of time. At this moment, that change seems to be bringing you down and pulling you under. The darkness that comes with change has seemed to take over your life. There are moments when you seem like you are doing great, but I know that it is all just an act. Like maybe if you can make others believe you are happy and that you are okay, then it might just actually be true and you’ll start believing it yourself. You lost someone close to you and I know that is killing you. It broke you and shattered your world. I know what it feels like, because it’s happened to me before. You feel like the one good thing in your life is gone and the glue holding your life together has vanished. At any given moment, you can fall apart and memories float through your mind at various times throughout the day, making life just so unbearable. Things seem to be at a stand still, neither getting worse nor getting better; for the longest time, you feel like things will stay like that forever and nothing can change it.

But, darling, I can personally say that none of that is true. Things may seem horrible now, but they will get better. Maybe not soon like everyone around you keeps telling you, but eventually it will. The pain you feel in your heart will dull and eventually fade; you’ll always have the memories, yet in the future, they will just bring you joy instead of heartache.

When all else fails, turn to the cross. God is the answer to everything. He is the only one who can truly heal you of your pain and sorrow. Worldly things will only help dull the pain for a little while; God can make it all go away. This is just an obstacle on the glorious path He has set out just for you. It wasn’t the first and it definitely won’t be the last. God will be with you through it all. He put this situation in your life for a reason; He wanted you to obtain something from this and carry it with you throughout the rest of your life. Pray about it and allow God to help you through this storm and onto the next amazing thing in your life.

I love you and will always be here for you.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
