An Open Letter To The Person Contemplating Suicide.

Hold on to my words.

An Open Letter To The Person Contemplating Suicide.

I wish I could stretch my arms out to your heart and take it in my hands all the pain you want to heal.

I wish I could take the ache off your chest and turn it into poetry, so you would know that amazing things can come out of misery.

I wish I could paint a rainbow and hang it at your ceiling, so every time you look up you would see how worthy and beautiful life is.

I wish I could take you to the dance floor every time your favorite song comes on, so you would know what being alive really feels like.

I wish I could hug you while you're crying in the middle of a storm, so you would realize that rain washes away everything if you just let it.

I wish I could write you notes about how smart and genuine you are and stick them to your mirror, so you would never forget what being pretty really means.

I wish I could tell you about God and Jesus, so you would know what being truly loved should feel like.

Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better; sometimes it doesn't stop hurting when your heart says it had enough. Promise me you will keep walking, even if you feel like crawling.

Sometimes the pain becomes part of yourself, and that sorrow changes the way you see others. Promise me it won't ever stop you from loving them anyway.

Sometimes your anger changes the way you look at life, and sometimes it changes the way life looks back at you. Promise me if won't ever change the way you look at yourself.

Bad times will come, and when they do, don't shake that weight off your shoulders. Embrace it, instead. Learn to live with it, but don't get used to it. Learn to walk the path by yourself, but know you don't have to. You never have to.

Learn to help others, but most importantly, learn how to help yourself. There is beauty in letting yourself be saved. Promise you won't ever think it is shameful.

Love is louder, my friend. And love will always be. Promise me you will listen to its voice and to its voice only.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
