An Open Letter To A Friend: Congratulations!
PEXELS

To my friend,

CONGRATULATIONS! You did it! It wouldn't do justice for me to be sentimental and give you a "hand-written, hand-delivered note." You deserve the best, an article blasted on the internet explaining how awesome you are. You are more than just a friend, you are more than a bag of potatoes, you are worth more than 10 dollars. To me, you're worth 11. To me, you're a supporter, a light, a shoulder to wipe my snot on, an awesome cook, and my motivation. Where would I be without you? Probably living a completely different life. But I choose to be where I am now, with you right next to me. The funny thing is, you don't even realize how great you are. You have so much potential and heart for what you do. Anyone would be lucky to have half the grit that you have. There are no bounds to which you won't stride.

I can't imagine where you will be in one year, 5 years, or even 10 years. Hopefully, you're not in a hole somewhere or living in a cardboard box... we can only hope. You have always made the most with what you have, and I know that you would always keep to that. People say that they would rather have a high paying job that they kind of like rather than a job that they truly love that pays close to nothing. You are that person that would work for free to follow your passion. You would live in a cardboard box in order to follow your dreams. I can only look up to what you have become.

Sometimes you have doubts about your potential and if you are doing the right thing, but you always come out of it positively. You always tell me to do what makes me happy, no matter the situation. You've given me so much, and here is my promise to you:

1. I will always be here for you no matter what.

2. I will always believe in you no matter what.

3. I will always make you happy no matter what.

4. I will always care for you no matter what.

5. I will always respect you no matter what.

6. I will always look up to you no matter what.

If you are down, you have AMAZING family and friends that you can fall back on. Don't be afraid to shoot for the moon though. The worst thing that would happen is that you would land on a star. God has a very special plan for you, and you are taking the right steps to get to that end goal. You're still young, so make mistakes and fall down, because I know that you will always jump back up and keep on going.

I'm not looking for a thank you for this, me seeing you thrive is good enough. So CONGRATULATIONS on a great milestone in life. I believe in you and I know that you will do great things! Thank you for showing me how great a person can be.

Love,

Your friend

The 5 Painfully True Stages Of Camping Out At The Library

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

StableDiffusion

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.

1. Finals are weeks away, I’m sure I’ll be ready for them when they come.
