An Open Letter To My Parents
Allison Hooper

Dear Mom & Dad,

I have let so many years pass without thanking you both. But you haven’t let a single second pass without loving me unconditionally.Thank you for raising a strong, independent woman. Without the two of you, I would not be where I am today. You raised a daughter who can do anything she puts her mind too.

Thank you for supporting my every dream. You guys always push me to go after the things I want most in life.

Thank you for being a shoulder to lean on when I don't know what to do. No matter the challenge I am facing, you both are there to help me through it all.

Thank you for making sure I was provided the best life possible. From extravagant family vacations to simply providing us the basic necessities in life, you always worked your butts off to make sure we had everything and so much more.

Thank you for being involved parents. I couldn't imagine having parents who simply don't care where my life goes.

Thank you for raising a responsible daughter. You taught me how to take responsibility for everything I do.

Thank you for listening to my many rants about work or school. I can sit for hours and have a mental breakdown and the both of you sit through it like champs.

Thank you for giving the inspiration, drive, and support throughout every decision I have made in my life. Without it, I would not be the person I am today.

Thank you for sacrificing the many things you wanted in life just to make sure I had everything I could ever need or want.

Thank you for excepting the kind of person I have become and always having my back.

I am forever grateful that the two of you were chosen to be my parents. There is no two greater people in this world for the job.

Love,

Your Sunshine.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
