Dear Americans,
The news today is full of violence. Acts of anger and hate from one human towards another. We hate because of color, gender, sexual orientation, or any number of other issues. Someone got shot, someone lost a son or daughter, someone was murdered, someone was raped, someone was ran over, and on and on it goes. When does the violence stop? When do we make a change? Do we understand that this hate, this fear of one another, is destroying us? We are siting here shooting and killing one another at home while our soldiers fight for the very lives we are so careless with.
Do you really need to tell your neighbor you can't be friends because they are gay? Do you really need to rape that girl because you say she was asking for it? Do you really need to speak ill of others for their heritage? Do you really need to have a gun when it could be the cause of your own death? Do you really need to shoot that cop because he is white and "black lives matter"? Tell me how any of this violence helps us and solves our problems. I can answer, it doesn't. We cannot solve problems by turning to weapons and hate. We cannot allow our home, America, to be a country where people live constantly in fear.
Do you realize that we are a tiny insignificant blip in the solar system? We are nothing. There is no proof that we are anything more. Unless we end the violence and share in our humanity, we will continue to be nothing. How can one life matter more than the thousands of others fighting for our country? How can a specific color of skin be more or less than another? How can we continue to brutalize each other? You realize that, if they so desired, another country could come in right now and not have to do anything to take over, to kill us or enslave us. We are doing all the work for them.
These new sayings going around about how certain lives matter more than others are ludicrous. No lives matter if we don't make them matter. Stand up and stick together. We are a diverse and beautiful country who should be supporting one another rather than hating one another. Together we can make changes, but apart we will end ourselves. Please do something positive for yourself, for our country, and for the lives we have lost to the hate.
This is my change, my chance to make a difference. I am writing this letter to tell all of us that we cannot continue on in this manner. I don't care what orientation you are. I don't care what color your skin is. I don't care what gender you are or identify with. What I care about, what I judge people on, is their attitude and how they treat others. Be kind and honest with me and we will never have an issue. We will never need an ill word, a weapon, or the hate. If everyone makes this change, to judge for the right reasons, imagine how strong we could be.
