To All Students During Finals Week, From A Senior Who's Been There

Relax because everything will be fine.

Dear Sleep Deprived Students,

I know how stressful finals week can be. Trying to cram all the information that you have learned throughout the semester or trying to teach yourself all the information that your teacher never did (shoutout to those teachers). Finals are a time filed without sleep, high caffeine levels, and even higher anxiety levels. At this moment, it feels like that you have to have the world on your shoulders, considering this one final is the defining factor of your entire life. I am just going fill you in with a secret: it is NOT. These grades may seem like the end of the world if you don't get the grade that you need to get into graduate school, med school, or landing your dream. Yes, achieving high grades is important BUT it is not the end of the world.

Your GPA is not going to kill you.

Every one of you is more than just a grade.

The biggest issue with the world today is that everyone is objectifying people through their grades. If you have 3.0 you are just an average person, or if you have a 4.0 you are the most perfect person.

False news.

Everyone is truly amazing.

Everyone has different strengths and weakness.

Everyone continues with their life after they walk out of finals.

By focusing on the little things, such as making sure you keep your A in the class, you are taking away from the bigger picture: the life that God has given you.

You have the ability to get an education to become skillful in whatever you believe. You are able to utilize resources. Just think about it as you are struggling, feeling like your world is collapsing.

You are better than your lowest grade.

God has the powerful tool to guide you in his presence but only if you are willing to let him. One of my newfound Bible quotes is Proverbs 3:5-6. "Trust in the Lord with all your Heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways submit to him, And he will make your paths straight"

This verse is one that my teacher gave us as extra credit to remember for a test. At the moment I just thought "Great I can just get extra points by just remembering this quote." After trying to memorize it, it struck me as an important quote that I think everyone, especially college students who are struggling to try to find their place in this world, will relate to.

There is more to this world than just making sure you have the highest grades. God has a path for each and every one of you guys. All you have to do is submit to God's presence and allow him to guide his way.

You finals will end and your life will continue. Do not look back on your life wishing that you spent less time worrying. Life is way too short to stress about all the little things.

XOXO,

A college senior who wishes she spent less time worrying about everything and spent more time living out the life that God gave her

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
