An Open Letter To My Fellow Classmates

This road of high school has become slightly manageable because of you.

My dear classmates,

I remember sitting down in my classes on my first day of high school, and thinking to myself “Wow this might be the worst four years of my life. There is no way I’m getting through all these classes”. I’m not going to lie, the first month of high school was rough. Tests, quizzes, projects, homework (you name it) were all thrown at us each week with strict deadlines.

But as the year went on and we got to know each other a little bit better, this road of high school became slightly bareable. And for that I can only thank you, classmates.

First off, I want to take a moment to thank the classmate who has ever sacrificed themselves in order to get a quiz or test pushed back.

But now, let’s take a moment to put anyone who has ever reminded a teacher of a due assignment, quiz, or test, to shame. As a classmate, you have a responsibility to do everything you can to help a fellow student out and move that test, not remind the teacher of it. No excuses!

My next shout-out goes to those of you who find study guides online, and especially to those who make your Quizlets public. Thank you for taking time out of your day to help a girl out, when she missed class or accidentally zoned out.

And finally, to the classmate who also failed the test or also forgot homework was due. In times like these, when you have failed at school yet again, these classmates always have your back; And you couldn't be happier.

So thank you. Thank you for telling me what the homework is, or what we have to do for a project. I am so grateful for all of you. Well, for most of you anyway.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time.
