Dear my fellow Americans,

This past week we elected Donald Trump as our new president. Now I know what you're thinking, f*****g Donald Trump?! Who decided a man with absolutely no political background, unless you count the petty politicking that goes hand-in-hand with running a large corporation and with being very wealthy, could run our country? We did. That's right America, we elected a Cheeto to run our country.

Mind you, I am not pro Trump, but I am also not pro Hillary either. So, either you had to pick between the racist, homophobic, non political, Donald Trump or a candidate who's been cosying up to the banks and dry humping corporations for years. If you think about it, yes Hillary probably was the better candidate, trust me, I would of voted for Satan over Trump. Now, I'm going to have people thinking "Well, if Hillary could be considered the better candidate why didn't more people vote for her?". Sorry that's not good enough, clearly. Clearly us Americans decided a Cheeto was better than Hillary Clinton.

Now you're going to say "Oh, but people didn't vote for her because she is woman." Not true, they didn't vote for her because she offered no change. On the other hand, Trump represents a change, whether it's scary or not, he offers a change. Hillary stands for very little if you think about it. Let me say again, I AM NOT HAPPY WITH TRUMP. I don't support him, I don't believe there should be a wall built or any of that sort. But if you're going to ask me why I didn't vote. NEITHER of them is a suitable candidate to run our country.

This election does not surprise me. Of course he won, everyone gave him the attention he needed to win. Why are we all so shocked? Hillary? Really? What were the Democrats thinking? Don't read me wrong here I wish she had won, but she had no shot. Where was Bernie Sanders? IF they had put him on the ticket he would of beat Trump.

But how long is it going to take us to learn, our argument is not won by hurling labels and insults because we don't agree with who someone voted for. In the end, Trump may have started all this hate, but WHO IS CONTINUING IT. WE ARE. Just because someone voted for Trump doesn't mean they are racist or homophobic or any of that sort. Some are yes, but most aren't.

We can't fix this if we are not standing together. We are one nation, not a nation divided. So, I know many of you are saying "F*** Trump I hope he fails." BUT if he fails, we all fail. Look at it that way. I wouldn't root for the pilot of my plane to fail, why root for the leader of my country to fail?

OH and side note. If Trump gets assassinated or impeached, we are stuck with Mike Pence.

Sincerely,

The white girl everyone assumes is Pro Trump.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
