Just a little token of appreciation for my mom.

The bond between a mother and her child is like no other. The bond between a mother and her daughter grows as life goes on. The bond between you and I grows each and every day I am away from you. As I experience a new chapter in my life as a young adult, I recall why I am the way I am; because of you.

I don't think I will ever be able to thank you enough. You have given me anything and everything I could and would ever want in a well-rounded life. And we both know I am not talking about "things". We both know that the most important things in life aren't things. When I was young you always made sure to reiterate that saying in which hangs above our sofa in the family room. This sign was a daily reminder that friends and family are always valuable, but things lose value over time.

A mother's love is endless, meaning it lasts forever. Your love is spread with every step you take, every smile you make, every back you scratch, and every keppie you kiss. Mom, you show your love for your children each and every day. I have never seen someone love their children more than you do. You drop everything for us, and I want you to know I would do the same for you. Going away to school has made me realize your love is the best medicine, your voice is my favorite song, and your messages are my favorite short stories.

You inspire my life each and every day. I love when you send me a cute, motivating Bit-Moji before class. Waking up to a text from you always makes the day. I make sure to smile and say hello to people I pass on campus just because I know you would encourage me to try to do that anyway. Whenever I do meet someone new, I think about how happy you would be for me. You are always excited to hear about my day and check in to see how my classes are going. When I hear your voice over the phone, I can see your big smile and this reassures me that I am doing my job of making you proud.

After being in school for about a month, I now know how much I appreciate you and Dad, and all you have provided for me in all aspects of my life. I want you to know that I appreciate you, and I do apologize if there was ever a time I made you feel unappreciated. Without a role model like you, I wouldn't be the accomplished young lady I am today.

This was one token of my appreciation for you,

Sydney Rachel

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
