Dear Ellen,

As of 2016, your show has been on the air for 13 years. Throughout the years, you’ve taught America so many lessons. From acceptance to compassion and a sense of humor, you continue to touch the lives of so many people.

With your revolutionary move into Hollywood as the first iconic lesbian talk show host, you made America see a new side to the gay community. Your love for others and charismatic personality allows less accepting people to see beyond your sexual preference and acknowledge your pure talent. You’re ability to rise above the hate and cruelty you face allows other to be brave and follow your courageous example.

You once said, “I learned compassion from being discriminated against. Everything bad that’s ever happened to me has taught me compassion.” This statement shows your strength in overcoming hatred and how you learned to persevere and be yourself. You chose to see the good in a bad situation and that choice led you to a successful career full of happiness and that is a blessing in itself.

Not to mention your constant pranks on various guests on your show. From scaring Taylor Swift by hiding in the bathroom and scaring audience members, you never fail to make people laugh (even if you give them a heart attack first). Also the fact that you called Justin Bieber out for his vacation fling when he claimed he still thinks about his previous relationship with Selena Gomez was epic. When you said, “you told that girl in Bora Bora that stuff,” everyone bowed down to your ability to call him out for his nude photos and embarrassing him at the same time.

Putting these major celebrity appearances aside, you have created amazing opportunities for young children. One of my favorite appearances was with Sophia Grace and Rosie who performed Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” and essentially you created a name for them. Also, you gave them an incredible experience to perform with Nicki herself.

While your talent-seeking abilities you continue to create future careers for these children, your philanthropy also facilitates a future for younger generations. Especially your recent guest named Brielle who can recite the entire periodic table of elements at age three. Promoting her future education and educating the youth, you continue to inspire younger generations to stay in school.

Your compassion towards people is evident through your show, but your movement “Going Vegan With Ellen” shows a less known, animal activist side of you. Your #meatlessmondays trend promotes vegan recipes and shows people a way to eat healthy without risking animals lives. Your partnership with the U.S. humane society raises awareness of animal cruelty and your personal efforts to change the meat production industry shows the great need for change.

Your Twitter account. Enough said. The constant hilarious tweets from simply funny pictures to inspirational quotes, you seem to have it all. Also, your photoshopping abilities are simply iconic.

Ellen, you continue to change the lives of people one smile at a time. Thank you.

Yours Truly,

A Loyal Fan

Going to the gym and working out on a daily basis (with breaks once in awhile) has been a great way for me to feel good about myself. It is 100% more than just looking good. Especially after starting college and having the stress and anxiety of tests, assignments, and just figuring out my future, the gym at my school has definitely been a place of relief for me and I have numerous reasons of why everyone should push themselves to get to the gym when they can.

Oh college, lovely, lovely college. A four-year time span that is filled with many highs and many lows. Between procrastinating on an essay that is due at midnight to getting your first library card (if you know what I mean), college is a time that you should not take for granted, yet it is also a time where you feel like your entire world is falling apart. It is a time where one day you can feel like you are on top of the world and then the next day you are 500 feet below the ground surface.

When I was learning how to talk, I was taught both Portuguese and English at the same time. In elementary school, I started taking mandatory Spanish classes, which I did well in because of my knowledge of Portuguese. Then in high school, on top of taking Spanish, I also started taking French. Now, in college, already fluent in English and Portuguese, I'm in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish, and I have a standard high school level understanding of French.
