An Open Letter To The People Driving From The Party
Boise Weekly

To the person leaving the party,

Hey there! What is going on? That party was pretty awesome, wasn't it? I just have one question for you though. Where do you think you are going? I hope you aren't thinking about driving anywhere. Do you really think that you are in any way in good shape to drive?

If you just said, "Yeah!!!! Of course I am good to drive!!!!!" Get ready for a slap up side the head and think again. You have been drinking for the past couple hours and now you think that you are good to drive... Really?

Let me tell you what you are going to be doing if you start that car. You are putting a countless number of innocent people in danger because you are "good to drive." You are also putting your life in danger.

Imagine this: You start driving home because you only had like three or four drinks. While you are driving home all of a sudden there is a car that came out of nowhere and the next think you hear and see are police sirens and lights. They put you and handcuffs and put you in the back of a squad car and you have no clue what is going on. You soon find out that that you T-boned that car. The driver of that car was a 17 year old kid who was going to be the first in their family to go to college. They were going to go and play basketball at Duke. They are now paralyzed from the waist down and lost their scholarship to go to school. Now you ruined a dream and you have a fine up to $10,000, you are heading to jail for up to two years, and possibly longer because of other charges all of that because you were "alright to drive."

Please, if you still feel like driving, don't do it. Don't drive for all of the people that care about you. Your parents. Your siblings. Your best friend. You have no clue how much they will miss you if you were to die in an accident. Please for you, your family, your friends and your future. Don't drink and drive.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
