Dear Mr. Trump,

To say that the last 16 months have been quite the experience for me as a first time voter is an understatement. My goodness. Who would have thought that this was the way it was all going to turn out? You defied the odds from the very beginning, took more criticism than I have ever seen, and still continued to keep your eye on the goal of your campaign: Make America Great Again.

There have been many people who have told me how sorry they feel for me that this is my first election in which I get to vote, telling me that this election features two candidates that are both unfit for the presidency, and we have no good option for the next President of the United States. I have chosen to look at it a different way. I'm excited to vote in this election. Why? It's quite simple: I'm part of a revolution that this country so desperately needs. And we have you, Mr. Trump, to thank for that, among other things.

First of all, thank you for shaking things up. The establishment on both the Republican and Democratic side of things needed to be shocked. And boy did you shock them. You came in and proved to all the career politicians that the same game they have been playing for years isn't going to fly anymore. You called out the "all talk and no action" pattern that has infiltrated Washington. And that was needed almost more than anything else.

Thank you for not apologizing for success--both of yours and that of America. Without success in this world, we would have no progress. You recognize the reason why so many immigrants desire to come to this country--because of the chance for success. You represent success across the map, and while I would agree that sometimes you haven't been the most modest when it comes to your success, I also know that you have a reason to be proud of what you have accomplished, for the same reason that Americans are proud of this country and what we have accomplished over the last 238 years.

Thank you for not backing down. It takes a heck of a lot of stamina to do what you have been doing for the last several months. Attacks have come at you from all sides, and yet they only made you stronger and more determined. As someone who was raised to persevere no matter cost, I appreciate seeing the hard work and endurance that both you and your campaign have exhibited.

Thank you for taking time away from your business and your family to make this revolution happen within our country. We needed someone like you who wasn't afraid of political correctness or the special interests that have run our country over the last several years. We needed someone who loved America, period--no strings attached.

Mr. Trump, you don't need this job. And while I could sit here and rack my brain trying to figure out why you would ever want to become a politician and run for public office, the one thing I do know is that you are doing this because you want to do this. You want to give back to the country that has given so much to you. I heard you say that sometimes you wonder if all of this is worth it (considering you have a multi-billion dollar business that is waiting for you), but then you remember the American people and are reminded of why you are doing this. And that makes it all worth it.

So, Mr. Trump, on behalf of all of us who have "hopped on the Trump Train" over the past 16 months, I just wanted to say thank you. Regardless of the outcome on November 8th, you can be confident in your efforts to change this nation--and you already have. In your unconventional, sometimes very strange way, you have gotten people to start thinking, to start getting more involved. I turned in my ballot this past weekend, and I have to say it was an honor to vote for you, Mr. Trump, in my first presidential election. You have already Made America Great Again--and I hope it gets to continue for the next four years.

With much appreciation and respect,

Kelsey Montag

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
