To My Dogs As I Leave For Australia
Pâmela Lima

Anyone who goes away to school and leaves their dogs behind knows that the struggle is real. All you ever want to do is see their face and cuddle them, but the problem is that they need to stay at home. Every time I leave for Pittsburgh, or any trip for that matter, I have to leave my dogs, Thyme and Penny behind. This time, I’m about to leave for Australia so here’s a letter to my two favorite girls.

First of all, I need you to know that leaving you is extremely difficult because I can’t explain to you why I need to leave. It’s hard to watch your little faces and expressions grow more and more worried as more boxes and bags get packed each day. I can see how confused you are while I pack up, and I know that you know that I’m going somewhere, without you. I want you to know that I love you more than anything, and I will always come back.

Secondly, how are you doing? Have you been good girls? Have you chewed any cool toys? Did Mom give you any treats? Did she get you any new fancy toys? Did you get to go on any fun trips?

Finally, I miss you both so much! I talk about you all the time and everyone who knows me, knows about both of you. I have pictures of you everywhere, and of course you’re my phone’s background photo. All my friends love you, and think you’re the most beautiful two labs ever, even the ones who haven’t met you yet.

While I’m gone, take care of our family. Make sure you bark really good and protect them from any squirrels and deer in the yard. Take care of our Banjo, even though he thinks he’s a dog, we all know he’s a cat. Make sure you always jump on Mom, Dad, and John when they get home and most importantly, don’t worry because your summer will still be awesome, even without me. Dad will take you to the pond, on hikes, and on errands, and Mom will sit out in the garden with you. Try not to knock over their morning coffee ladies, they work so hard for us. Also, don't traumatize Splotch, and try not to bust into the pantry, it always makes you sick.

While you’re enjoying your summer, keep in mind that I’ll be back in a few months, and you can look forward to the day I’m back and you can skip out on your crates for a night. We’ll cuddle and sleep in my room (ps. We’ll keep it a secret from Dad). When I’m back, don’t forget to share my bed with me! We’ll snuggle, take Snapchat videos, and watch our favorite shows all night long.I can’t wait to see you again. I love you!

Love,

Your favourite big sister, Annie.

I'm sure, like me, many of you received lots of gift cards over the holidays. After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
