An Open Letter to Christians in College

You're not in this alone.

An Open Letter to Christians in College

Dear Christian brothers and sisters,

I hope this crazy world of college is going well for you, hopefully it is a journey without many ups and downs. But we all know that certain things are placed in front of us so that we can get stronger.

Don't be discouraged if you see the world differently from some of your friends. We aren't all created alike so we have different views on things. Take what they say into consideration and try and show them how we live life too.

College, for some, can be like a mission field. Many can join an organization, sorority or fraternity to be the light to the darkness. Because, after all that is what we are called to be. God wouldn't have put you in that place if he didn't see a special reason. Just remember that when times get hard, and especially when you feel alone.

Maybe that's not you. Maybe you like to show people God's love rather than preaching it, which is fantastic! Use those skills to show others that God's people can be selfless and serving.

Overall, don't try and change yourself just for someone to like you. Stick to who you are and why you do things the way you do. If anyone doesn't like it, then that's not your problem. You were created like that for a reason, so don't let that slow you down!

Know that you are never alone during your college experience. There is always someone going through the same things you are. We weren't meant to walk this path alone, so don't try to!

Love,

A fellow sister in Christ

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
