You were always my common denominator.

To My Childhood Best Friend,

Where do I even start? Our friendship started when we were very young. We survived all those crazy kindergarten days together, and then soon we were concurring grade school together. Our matching outfits or friendship necklaces were always a hit. Not long after, we tackled middle school together. We were there for each other to share our first kiss experience and our first heartbreak. High school came around, and we got our first cars. We would follow each other to school every morning and park right next to each other. The mornings we were running late, we knew. You would blare the horn until I got in my car, or I would I wait at the end of my driveway until you past. Before we knew it, we were being asked to the prom, and in a blink of an eye, we were walking across the stage at our high school graduation. Throughout it all, you were always there. Now, we have entered the next chapter- college.

You were always my common denominator. You are that person that easily become more than a friend but family, too. I mean there are weeks that you ate dinner at my house more than your own through high school. You know where my spare key is to my house, and there are days you sometimes talk to my mom more than I do.

I love you, girlfriend. Our friendship has truly been the foundation of my entire social life. You truly taught me how to be a friend, and I cannot thank you enough. If there is one person in this life that I know will always been there for me, it's you.

We may not see it other as much as we did at one time, but there isn't a moment I know of that we weren't there for each other. I love when I call and you still understand everything, and I barely have to say anything at all.

College has be an experience. It has made it even harder that you aren't physically by side. Of course, I miss you. But I know we are both happy where we are.

In this life, you are going to great things. You are the most hardworking people I know. Your smile and strong-will is contagious. And I will forever be in your corner.

Whether I am 2 miles up the road or 75 miles from you, I always got your back. I cannot what to see what the future holds for each of us, and I am honored to call you one of my best friends.

So thank you. Thank you for always being there and sharing this crazy journey with me. I couldn't have survived this long without you. People search their entire lives to find that one person who always understands, and fortunately, we found that in our first ever friend.

I love you, always and forever. Just know, you always have a friend in me.

Sincerely,

Your forever best friend.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
