Dear Keith,

You left at the end of October last year. I know that being deployed was something you always wanted to do, and I was happy to see your wish finally realized. Being a reservist involves a lot of waiting sometimes, and you'd waited long enough to put your knowledge and skills into use.

Having you so far away was cool at first because, you know, you can be really annoying sometimes! I also really liked having the gaming computer to myself. This was before I invested in a laptop, so I could hop on whenever I wanted to do schoolwork, write articles for Odyssey, or just play Fallout 4 and Sims 4. It was like a dream to not have Keith-induced drama blow up the household.

This time you have access to the internet, so it's been easier to stay in touch. And as nice as it was to have some distance between us at first, your empty bedroom became too quiet, and it became very apparent that you brought a special kind of light and laughter into the house that left when you went overseas.

I miss watching you play video games. I miss going to Swell Taco with you, and driving in your car, and just doing little things that didn't seem so important at the time. I realize now that our relationship has really transformed into something entirely different than what is was during our bickering childhoods. We don't have serious fights anymore and I'm 100 percent thankful for the change. You're a pretty okay guy. :)

I'm really proud of you, Keith, for all the maturing you've done and everything you've accomplished. I'm excited to welcome you home in July and go on vacation with you in August! I hope we can have many more adventures together, and I can't wait to see you in a month!

Love,

Your Sister

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
