An Open Letter To My Brother-In-Law

Growing up, I wanted little more than an older brother. Thanks to you, that dream has come true.

An Open Letter To My Brother-In-Law
Paige Rockett

Growing up, there was little that I wanted more than an older brother. You know, one of those older brothers you see in movies or on TV shows? The ones where the older brother watches over his little sister, no matter how old she is. That was something I always wanted, but there really wasn't anything I could do about my lack of big brother in my life. That is, until we grew up a little more, and my sisters got married. Right then and there, my childhood dream came true, and I could not be any more grateful for that.

I could not have asked for better guys for my big sisters. Honestly, you guys are the best of the best. You make my sisters smile, and that means the world to me. I wasn't going to let them go easily, but you guys are so lovable, it was to hard to say no. What can I say? I can be a softy at times. But for reals my friends, you guys have had such an impact on not only my sister's lives (obviously), but mine as well.

Thank you for making an effort to join our whole family, not just my sister. Just as we welcomed you, I felt extremely welcomed by you. You wanted to get to know us from the beginning, and I am so glad that feeling was mutual. We have had some great times over the past few years, and I can't wait to see where the next few take us and our crazy family.

Thank you for coming along to things that are important to me, and for finding things we have in common that we may not have noticed at first. I am so glad I have you to binge watch the "Harry Potter" movies with, even when we try and watch them all simultaneously and fail. I am so glad I have you to keep me with a long list of books to read in the future. What would I do without you?

Thank you for willingly coming to the many dance recitals that have taken place in the time since you started dating my sister. It may seem like a little thing, but it means the world to me, and to my sister. On top of that, I greatly appreciate our random ballet lessons that you let me give you. Even if the first one started out as a way to get my sisters attention at the beach one year.

Most importantly, thank you for teaching me what it looks like to be loved a cherished by a guy. You have been there to help remind me that not all guys are dumb, you just have to wait for the right one. You have shown me what I deserve, and what I don't. That is something that I could have never fully learned on my own.

Thank you for being the absolute best big brother I could have ever asked for. Thanks for letting me third wheel you and my sister, without a single complaint from anyone. You are one of the biggest blessings I have ever been given in this life, and I could never say thank you enough.

Love always,

Your favorite little sister

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
