Dear Black Men, We Know Your Worth

Dear Black Men,

As a black woman, I believe that I can speak for us all when I say that we love you. Even though the Nation doesn't like to acknowledge it, you are kings. You are strong and mighty, and don't ever forget your worth. You are one of the most powerful creatures on earth. Even though others don't like to admit that you are powerful beyond measure, their actions show it daily.

If they thought you were worthless would they constantly try to kill you off just because your black skin glistens in the sun like it was bathed in honey and dipped in gold? Would they make you work twice as hard just to earn what they have? Would they fear your very existence? No, they wouldn't. If you were worthless, they wouldn't fear you when you walked by. I see how hard you strive to stay alive, and your hustle doesn't go unnoticed.I see you working hard for all the little black babies that look up to you. I see you trying to provide for your family, or studying to earn that degree. I see the drive and passion in your eyes. I see the invisible scars on your back from the lash of their tongues filled with words, that are meant to break you.

They have been mistreating you for years, but yet you rise. You remain strong, and courageous in the face of adversity. They tried to kill off your ancestors, and they failed. Now they are trying to kill you off again, and trust me they will fail. The blood that runs through your veins carry the love and strength of your ancestors, so it is impossible for you not to succeed. So hear me black men when I say, you are brilliant, not dumb. You are gentle, not thugs. But most importantly don't listen when they tell you that your life doesn't matter. That is a lie. You matter, you always have, and you always will. We as black women promise keep you uplifted even when the world continues to knock you down, to remind you of your worth when they tell you that you are worthless, and to love you in a world that's filled with hate.

With Love,

All Black Women

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.
