An Open Letter To My Best Friend's Little Girl

Hello my tiny love,

It's me, your mother's best friend. I know you know who I am. But I'm just here to tell you something super important.

Are you ready?

I love you.

I'm sure you're wondering why I'm saying this out of no where but there is a reason behind the madness.

I've been there since day one. I was holding your mommy's hand while she was having you. And before that I was watching you roll around inside her while we played City in Colour. I have never seen anything more amazing in my life except for the time when I watched your mother slide across her back porch on her elbow, and that was just flat out funny.

Growing up I was guilty of believing that I had no one who loved me. I even was convinced your mother didn't love me. And as dumb as that sounds, sometimes the worst days will get the best of you. Sometimes your mind will win. Your mother has been guilty of it too, trust me, I was there every bad day she had.

But it was because of her that I didn't get stuck in those bad days and moods. Your mother was always there for me.

So I want to make sure you know that since I'm her best friend, I'm yours too. You're my family. I would do anything in the world to see you smile. I'll always be there when you need anything or anyone. You deserve the brightest days the world can give and I will do everything in my power to make it happen. I owe it to you and your mother. You both are my world and I would do anything for you both.

You're 3 years old right now. I've got you to call me Snow White, you've seen all of my cats, and you've been weird around me when I'm wearing my red lipstick. I know you can't read this, but one day I'll make sure you do so you understand my love for you, baby.

Remember, when your days are gray, you mind is winning, or you feel like you have no one. I'm always here for you.

I love you, now and forever.

-Your mother's best friend
